One of our patrols was out in a village the other day. As always, kids came running up to them, calling out "Chocolate! Chocolate!" One was a little girl, maybe eight years old. The soldier didn't have any chocolate, so he tossed her a Clif bar. She looked at it a second, then threw it back at him hard enough to bounce off his helmet, and shouted "Chocolate! Fuck you!"
Don't mess with a little girl who knows what she wants...
I'm horrible for laughing, but that was hilarious. Granted, some of the clif bar flavors which I would take over chocolate.

I would have thrown that crap back at him too! I don't like Clif bars. Bleh!

That is too funny, "don't mess with a little girl who knows what she wants..." but you shoud've said, "this clif bar is all I got," before you throw it at her. Now you know what to give them.

Great post! Those little moments raw like that are a huge part of this war's identity. Capture more true small moments like that and write a book!

Oh wow. That's hilarious! I don't blame her for throwing it back. If a girl says she wants chocolate she certainly means it!

SO FUNNY!!! I agree with Michelle....if a girl says chocolate, then that is definitely what she wants.
Thanks for the smile!

I'm really sorry she threw the clift bar back at him hard enough to make it bounce off his helmet, and the she shouted "Chocolate! Fuck you!" That was not very nice of that little girl. He was trying to be nice. That little girl was down right rude!

Well, I will admit I did get a chuckle. On the other hand, it is horrible there is such a lack of appreciation. I guess kids will be kids anywhere. Let me say, being a grown up gal, yes I LOVE chocolate, but really...the "F" word. My goodness. Hang in there and when you can please keep your humor, it will help you through tough days. May God bless you and keep you safe!

Makes you wander what a women would do if you gave her a cliff bar... I am glad you can still see the humor in the war. I hope that you still be able to remember the good through out the war instead of all the bad. Best of luck and maybe you better keep chocolate in your pocket from now on.

This did make me laugh...but this made me think of how ungrateful people are. But this was entertaining nonetheless. Best of luck to you and God Bless!

So much for hearts and minds. All that death and destruction so we could toss candy from armored vehicles at the Afghan children - and teach them colloquial English. When we add up all the American accomplishments there, that might be somewhere near the top of a very short list.

That line sounds like it's right out of a movie. Damn! Funny stuff.
