Guess what I forgot to tell you about yesterday! The KC Planetcon!
It's happening tomorrow too...I went today and it was really remarkably busy! I was very impressed by the crowd. Also, there were lots of costumes (more than I remember from previous years), and lots of great local creators (and not local creators! and actors! and actresses!).
If you've got some free time on Sunday, go check it out. There are lots of comics for sale, toys, random items. original art, etc. I took my parents a couple of years ago, and as we walked around, my mother told me that she felt that she understood my job a little better. I thought this was probably completely untrue (and, if anything, she now had even less of an accurate understanding of what I did than she ever had before). Take that as you will.
My two highlights were talking to Jane Wiedlin (Yes! From the Go-Go's!) and Mira Furlan (Babylon 5! BABYLON 5! AAAAAAH!!!!! Oh - I guess she was also on "Lost." I wouldn't know. I don't watch it. "Talking" is overstating. I went up and told her how awesome she was on B5. Then I ran away.)

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
