Whenever we get the chance, we travel through Roanoke on I-81 on our way further north to New Market (where I grew up). The Shenandoah Valley is a beautiful place for a road trip. Stopping in the area and staying overnight with our friend, Sally Miller, is always a treat. Sally has led an amazing life (including 10 years in Australia) and is always full of stories. She claims to be working on her memoirs but spends so much time being a hostess to a world-wide collection of friends, that she has little time for writing. In the meantime, she paints when she gets a free minute. She's a volunteer with the refugee center there in the Roanoke area. These are just a few of her accomplishments.
Besides her charm, Sally (Miller) is a wonderful cook and spoils us unmercifully with her meals.
A little frittata she whipped up for breakfast.
With a side of fruit to brighten the plate even more. No hungry mouths at Sally's house.
