The Sandbox

GWOT hot wash, straight from the wire

Welcome to The Sandbox, a forum for service members who have served or are currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, returned vets, spouses and caregivers. The Sandbox's focus is not on policy and partisanship (go to our Blowback page for that), but on the unclassified details of deployment -- the everyday, the extraordinary, the wonderful, the messed-up, the absurd. All correspondence is read, and as much as possible is posted, lightly edited. If you know someone who is deployed who might have something to say, please tell them about us. There are so many things to say, but since I am now short 30 days from leaving this mess, I can only say one thing: I can now truly appreciate living in the USA. We may disagree on religion, politics, race, but we don't blow each other to pieces because of it (well, not normally).

Amen, man. Even as we head into this election, we're, more or less, civil to each other. It's kind of a miracle.

Get back here and get some rest.

My OH MY!! The more things change the more they stay the same.I was in 'NAM'in '69/70' thinkin' the same thoughts.Jungle/desert BAD WAR!!Same 'de-ja vu' all over again...

Congratulations on coming back home. Be safe till your boots hit dirt in CONUS.
We would still like to hear what the hell is going on over there. Maybe you will get some time later.

Let's hope things here never get that bad..civility is a wonderful thing. I am very happy to hear you are almost home safely. I've been trying to contact someone at Fort Hood who recently left for Iraq with the Blackjack Brigade. Can you help me out?
