So Thursday night, Bill Amend and I flew into Boston and we parted ways at dinner to meet up with college friends. Afterward, we met PVP's Scott Kurtz and his assistant Mary in the crowded hotel bar for some drinks and some banter.
Then Friday after some light calisthenics and Bromo-seltzer, Bill and I went to the opening SRO keynote address by actor/blogger/tech guy, Wil Wheaton. Wil was charming and funny and he did send me a couple of friendship winks during the talk. Because when you're the guest of a certain Mr. Bill Amend, they give you front row seats! I haven't had front row seats to anything since I saw "Doogal" in a crowded cinema back in 2006.
Next, were the Penny Arcade cartoonists Mike and Jerry. The welcomed everyone and did some Q&A. They were incredibly funny and there was a somber moment when Jerry announced that there would not be an episode three of something that I wasn't familiar with. Jerry apologized and his voice seemed to crack a bit, but you could feel the crowd just wanting to run up and give him a hug or perhaps their room key.Anyway, did I mention the place is wall-to-wall standing room only: 4-5-6,000 people? The Royals don't draw that well in April. Anyway more to come.
